OFFSET DIGITAL AD REQUIREMENTS
Preferred File Format:
Current file formats accepted by CONDE NAST PUBLICATIONS are TIFF/IT-P1 (should include CT/LW/FP), raster-based DCS-2 (created from CT/LW). Information should be supplied on a Macintosh formatted Zip or CD-ROM. Materials should comply with SWOP standards, CT between 200 and 400 dpi, LW files should be 2400 dpi. The total density should not exceed SWOP, which is 300%. Any 5th or spot color should be in a separate file. (Please include a separate check list). All required trapping must be included in the file. The black text should be merged with the LW: right reading portrait mode only, 100% size, no rotations, standard trim and bleed marks in all separations. Use only postscript fonts. True type fonts are unacceptable. Avoid using Multiple Master fonts. Images for 4/C ads must be submitted as final, high resolution, CMYK files.
We will NOT accept any native application files such as Quark, Photoshop or Illustrator. Ads created in Microsoft Word,
Microsoft Publisher, PowerPoint, or any other word processing program will NOT be accepted.
All digital pages should include a printout of contents of each disk supplied as well as correct copy information for content
and positioning.
PREFERRED COLOR GUIDANCE
Please provide Kodak Approval, CREO Spectrum or Iris Digital Proofs for color guidance on press. The supplied color guidance must meet all SWOP specifications and must include a 6mm 55, 25% 50%, 75%, and 100% CMYK patch strip for quality control.
Please be advised that all disks will be recycled 3 months after printing. The original proof and an archived copy of the digital ad file will be kept for 13 months after printing.
